"Hi Bella! You were so fun to work with! Your love of pitching really came out and I could tell that you were having the time of your life!! Sooo fun to see! Strengths— Front Side Resistance. When you land you are so stable and strong. Arm Circle looks good. Posture looks good. Improvements- I really want to see you drive more off the mound. This may mean that you need to get your foot in a better position to create a better shin angle. Biggest Mechanic Improvement that will be Impactful: Definitely drive off the mound. Your drag foot turns early, as you move forward in your pitch. This isn’t the worst thing, but if we can turn a bit later in the motion it will allow you to get better leg drive. Biggest Pitch to continue to grow with: RISE. You have a good rise ball right now. I would like to see you throw it more aggressively and snap the ball harder. Continue to work with the big ball to improve your spin on this pitch, let go make it great! Change up- this pitch I would say is most improved for you. Remember to stay relaxed through the end of the pitch and to make sure your arm doesn’t float up at the end!" -Evaluated by Monica Abbott
"Bella has a natural downhill motion which helps her drop ball get on the “down” plane faster. The main thing we talked about was her having a light push off leg, which starts when her foot turns while she’s still on the mound. If she focuses on pushing that leg and foot straight down into the mound, she’ll come up onto that front right toe as she drags to her finish, and she’ll be able to transfer her weight to her front side even faster. Limiting her backside resistance will help increase her overall speed. She does a great job of starting in her legs but should work to extend equal parts up and out, instead of starting in an athletic stance and almost ending at that same level. If she can finish taller than she starts, while keeping her eye level horizontal, we’ll know her legs have exhausted all of their potential power. Overall, a very natural and relaxed motion with potential!" -Evaluated by Alana Vawter (Stanford/South Carolina, Florida Vibe - Pro)
"Avoid angling your toe during the initial push off the pitch; keep your front foot pointed directly towards the catcher without letting it fly out. Ensure your chest doesn’t rise during the initial push off the mound. Focus on driving your hips and knee straight towards the catcher, maintaining this alignment as long as possible. Think of exploding off the mound as if you’re sprinting, aiming to create visible force. My most important adjustment would be for more leg drive and arm speed, which can increase both power and velocity. Keep working on these areas, and you’ll see improvements! Your changeup is looking good. As you work on increasing leg drive and arm speed with your other pitches, be sure to apply these improvements to your changeup as well. A good goal would be to locate your changeup at different heights to add more versatility to the pitch. Keep up the great work!" -Evaluated by Karlyn Pickens (Tennessee)
